Baking Attempt #3 : Rummy Fruit Cake

Joy to the world, christmas is near!!!
It's that time of the year again for scrumptious yummy wummy rummy fruit cakes!! Woot
A friend decided to do a fruit cake experiment this year so I just had to join in the fun. =p

Behold the ingredients.

Recipe found online :D
We followed it almost exactly, only left out the golden syrup and vanilla essence, and changed the mixed spice to cinnamon.

Before and after mixing in the brown sugar.

(L)The creamy butter + sugar mixture with 4 eggyolks added in one at a time.
(R) Egg white + baking powder, whisked till stiff.

Flour, salt, cinnamon and egg whites folded in.

In goes the soaked-in-rum-6-months-long fruits (lemon rind, mandarin peel, cherries and raisins).

Then the dough masuks the loaf tins and into the pre-heated oven!

Lookie lookie... Ok experiment not quite successful cuz not enough fruits in the cake. But the flavour was pretty ok. Will carry out experiment no.2 soon and hopefully we'll create fruit cakes good enough to sell =p haha

Fresh outta da oven.

Beauty DIY: Aspirin Mask

Yays! Finally tried out the aspirin mask. Well it was not so much a mask, it turned out more liquidy than expected.

Instead of using the normal Bayer's aspirin I went for the cheaper alternative instead: Ranbaxy's Uniaspirin which also happens to be in soluble tablet form. Makes the process easier :)

I decided to crush the 3 tablets anyway so that the tablets would dissolve faster. Then I added a soup spoon of water.

Next, I added aloe vera gel (Fruit of the Earth brand) and mixed till the gel was properly dispersed. The gel doesn't really mix with water so it won't dissolve, it'll just disperse in the water creating a sorta emulsion thingy.

Last step, I added in a soup spoon of honey into the emulsion and mixed till I got the light goldish mixture as per picture below.

So I just slathered some on my face, left it for 15 minutes, and then used the rest of the mixture as a facial scrub since aspirin makes a good exfoliant. After the mask I applied aloe vera gel before sleeping, only because my skin is the sensitive type and I was afraid it would turn red after using the aspirin mask.
Verdict: Didn't see any effect immediately after but over the course of the next few days, my blemishes reduced slightly and my skin was also brighter and clearer looking. Now, all I have to do is discipline myself to carry out this whole process this weekly :/

Malaysian Pole Dance.

I was going through my old photo folders in the computer and i found this video. This was when i took up pole @ LJ studios, ampang point. messing around after class. credits to fellow classmate Santhawan who took this vid.

Pole as i remembered, when i first started, wasn't something that was looked up to by friends. everyone, in fact. my first mention of the 2 words 'Pole' and 'Dance' itself got me a lot of cheeky expressions from both guys and gals.

I guess pole dance does require you to wear something which bears as much skin as possible. otherwise you wont be able to do this:

or this:
or even this:
but somehow...when i was taught my first spin, i know i got hooked to this activity. every spin spells the word wheeeee in my head. and i wanna do it again and again. and when i finally know how to do the inverts, i wanna know what other cool stuff i can do wth this vertical thing. no matter how many bruises and burns i get from the clipping and rubbing or how madonna-like my arms will get from doing it. don't believe? go try once or twice:)

I stopped the pole classes shortly before my wedding in Dec last year and i'm still stuck at beginner's level. although now i'm learning other aerial stuff like the lyra and the silks...i definitely still miss my pole classes. i wish one day after mastering the circus stuff, i cud come back to it!

If you're interested in pole classes, there are several studios offering it in Malaysia now such as Viva Vertical, Bobby Pole Studio and Broadway Poleworks.  it's up to you to choose. there is no preference towards any of the studios. every studio and instructor has their unique way of teaching. so do your research and pick the best!

much love.

German Deli Imbiss, Ampang Jaya

Judging from the name, this deli was probably brought to Malaysia by the Germans. it's located at our very recently hot lepak place in Ampang, opposite the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL), behind the Ampang Jaya Petronas station.

This restaurant specializes in many many types of hotdogs, big ones and small ones. steaks too, and some pastas as well as their trademark german noodle soups.

The halal logo on the menu shows that this deli also targets malaysian muslim customers. nothing to worry about, clear your conscience and order away!

For RM3, you get tall glasses of ice lemon tea for drinks:

This time we ordered the Coney Cheese Hotbock priced at RM12.50 and we were delighted with the size of sausage and the generous amount of mozarella cheese on top:)

Another unique dish they serve at this deli is the Beef Pancake Soup. it came in a bowl so big it can fit your head in it. it's just like any other noodle soup, but with big chicks of beef and pancake strips as noodles. this one costs RM12.50.

There's also wifi and plasma tvs in the restaurant so u can dine and lepak there. ask for wifi password.

Skin Food

I think this is a pretty cool gift for any girl, don't you? :)
I like the packaging and there are so many types of masks all jammed packed into a Skin Food zip-lock bag it was like christmas came early in the form of facial masks. Lol.

There were 3 different types of facial mask, as per picture shown above: Rice Mask, Repairing Mask and Omija Whitening Mask. And the bag contained FOUR of each type, yay!
My fave outta the 3 has be the repairing mask, containing red ginseng and royal jelly. My skin actually does look brighter and more plumped up after using it.

And then there was this, 1 packet of green tea milk cleansing cream. Which I haven't actually tried yet heehee.
The package also included a packet of salmon eye brightening serum, which was a little oily and didn't show any immediate results so... I didn't bother posting the picture up =p

Now THIS, is the one product that I'd definitely buy again. The package also contained 4 of this but I've already used them all up!

When you open up the packet you get a blister pack with a silver foil backing. Tear that open and you'll see the collagen + carrot essence drenched silicon mask.

After removing the front and back plastic protectors the silicon mask looks like this and you just stick it onto the eyebag area. It's shape gives a perfect fit (for me la). The instructions say to leave it on for 30 mins but I usually leave it over night and wake up with brighter and more taut eyebag area. I like!

Can't find this in our skinfood stores though cuz this package's direct from Korea. So either I'm not looking hard enough, or this product has yet to grace our shores. So if anyone can find this in our stores please gimme a holla!
